Arrest made in relation to Minto hit-and-run involving cyclist

The incident occurred in October 2022, leaving cyclist with serious injuries; the suspect is now facing multiple charges, including careless driving and failing to remain

MINTO - A 28-year-old driver from West Grey Township is facing charges after a hit-and-run collision that left a cyclist with serious injuries.

The crash occurred on Oct. 11 around 8:30 a.m. on Wellington Road 2 at Regency Drive in Minto Township. The investigation revealed the cyclist was hit by a motor vehicle that fled the scene, police say. 

The cyclist, a 21-year-old from Clifford, was ultimately transported to a trauma centre by Air Ornge with serious injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, the 28-year-old driver has been charged with:

  • Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Careless driving cause bodily harm
  • Fail to report accident
  • Fail to remain, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
