Drug bust early Wednesday morning nets 163 grams of cocaine

A Guelph male faces drug and weapons charges after officers seized more than $14,000 worth of cocaine from a residence early Wednesday morning.

Approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service Drug Unit and Tactics and Rescue Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Paisley Road and Goldie Avenue. The warrant followed an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine.

A search of the residence uncovered 163.34 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of $14,000 to $16,000. Officers also seized functioning scales, drug packaging, $3,070 in cash, a non-functioning rifle and brass knuckles.

A 22-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a prohibited weapon and two counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He will appear in a Guelph court October 12, 2021.
