Guelph driver caught going 209 km/h on Hwy. 401

Charged with stunt driving, as well as driving without a licence or insurance card

A Guelph driver, 21, was stopped by police on Hwy. 401 after being clocked at 209 km/h.

A Guelph driver was caught travelling more than twice the speed limit on Hwy. 401.

According to an OPP social media post made at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, Mississauga OPP stopped a 21-year-old driver who was clocked going 209 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Milton.

"I was only doing 129,” the driver is quoted as saying in the post.

The driver is charged with stunt driving, driving without a license and driving without an insurance card.

In addition to the charges, the accused had their driver’s license automatically suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for two weeks.
