A Guelph police officer will not be charged following a sexual assault investigation from the provincial police watchdog agency.
In a Wednesday post on its website, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) announced its investigation into a reported Jan. 14 incident has concluded and no charges will be laid.
“Since the release of information related to investigations of sexual assault allegations is always associated with a risk of further deterring what is an under-reported crime and undermining the heightened privacy interests of the involved parties, most emphatically, the complainants, the SIU director has decided to withhold publication of the director’s report,” the post states, explaining no additional information will be released.
The SIU continues to investigate another Guelph police officer for an unrelated sexual assault alligation. That incident reportedly happened on Jan. 9.
