Guelph police are now involved in assisting with the investigation of a house fire earlier this week that sent three people to hospital with serious injuries.

Approximately 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, emergency services were called to an address near Hearn Avenue and Inkerman Street. One neighbour reported hearing an explosion and saw three people crawling out of a second-floor unit onto a roof.

Two men and a woman were rescued from the roof by police and fire personnel and transported to hospital with serious injuries. All three were later transferred to a Hamilton trauma centre where they remain in serious condition.

The Guelph Fire Department requested assistance from the Office of the Fire Marshall. Following their initial investigation, police were asked to assist.
