Following two overnight fires, police are asking the public to come forward with dashcam video that may aid in their investigation.

Just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews were called to the area of Ontario and Wood streets, just north of York Road, where a sign was set on fire, police said in a news release. That fire was quickly extinguished and no suspects were found in the area.

About two hours later, police were dispatched to a business in the area of York Road and Victoria Road South where shrubs against a building had also been set on fire.

Nearby residents were able to mostly extinguish the flames before emergency crews arrived, the release explains.

“It is not known if the incidents are related,” it states.

Anyone who was in the area of either fire and saw anything, or has dashcam footage, is asked to call Det.-Const. Jagdeep Atwal at 519-824-1212 ext. 7436 or email [email protected]. Details can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.csgw.tips.
