A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after an argument between roommates turned physical.

On Saturday morning, two males were at a business on Paisley Road when they began arguing about rent money. One of the males punched the other in the face before leaving the store and going home.

A short time later the second male arrived home and the argument resumed. The suspect swung a small baseball bat at him but did not make contact.

The victim was treated by paramedics for facial swelling and a possible concussion.

A 41 year old is charged with assault, assault with a weapon and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court April 18.
