A Guelph man suffered serious injuries when he crashed a motorcycle on Sunday evening and was subsequently charged with impaired driving.
Emergency services were called to a motorcycle crash on Downey Road, near Pheasant Run Drive at about 5:35 p.m. According to a Guelph police news release, investigation revealed the owner lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to fall and collide with a curb.
Witnesses reported said the motorcycle rider appeared to have alcohol on his breath.
The man was arrested following a failed roadside breath test. He was taken to hospital with injuries including a broken clavicle and broken ribs.
Further testing at the hospital confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system to drive.
A 56-year-old man is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. In addition, his driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his motorcycle impounded for a week.
