Police are investigating after they report a sharp-eyed bank teller prevented a fraud earlier this week.

Approximately 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, a man entered a bank on Speedvale Avenue East and attempted to withdraw $4,000 from a line of credit. He presented a driver’s licence and social insurance card, however the teller felt they were not legitimate.

The teller called the account holder, who confirmed he was not in Guelph at the time. Police were called and the suspect left the bank on foot. He was described as a white man in his 70s, balding with a short, thin build. He was wearing a grey suit and had his right arm in a sling.
