Wellington County OPP Crime Unit has laid charges related to a Feb. 8, 2022, shooting that targeted a Millburn Boulevard home in Fergus. As a result of the investigation, Ryan Jacob Robert Amaral, 33 years old of Elora, has been charged with:
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
- Theft of electricity or gas (under $5,000)
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
- Discharge a restricted firearm or a prohibited firearm with intent
- Failure to comply with release order (X2)
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order contrary to the Criminal Code
The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
