The Elora Singers want to invite the community to celebrate the last day of the Elora Festival at The Barn Dance, an event that promises to have great music, food and dancing, and a night of fun for the whole family!

The Elora Festival now in its 44th year, has historically featured choral music and chamber music, but over the years, it has evolved to include several different genres of music which keeps the festival exciting and inclusive for everyone.

“This event is out of the norm of the history of the festival, but it’s not out of the norm of where we want the festival to go,” said Christina Stelmacovich, manager of The Elora Singers and Elora Festival.

In their first ever Barn Dance this family-friendly event will feature bluegrass band, The Barrel Boys, as well as The Elora Singers. Stelmacovich said besides keeping the festival fresh and new, this event is a way of saying thank you to their supporters.

“During Covid, The Elora Singers hosted concerts online and our patrons continued to support us, and so as a thank you for that we thought let’s do something fun, we have this incredible venue, a barn at our disposal, and what better way to say thank you to the community than to have a party,” she said.

As well, Stelmacovich said the Barn Dance is an opportunity to broaden their audience, meet community members, and show people their versatility with their musical repertoire.

“We do all kinds of genres of music and we also bring in guest artists of all kinds of genres of music…and as we move forward we want to be as inclusive as possible and show people that we can let our hair down too and have some fun,” she said.

A country and western themed event, Stelmacovich said the party begins at 5 p.m., and people can grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks, The Schmuck Truck, Groovy Grilled Cheese, or Mega Cone Creamery. At 6:30 p.m., you can kick up your heels with The Barrel Boys who will also be inviting everyone to join them for some line dancing.

The Elora Singers will also be there to perform a few numbers, and in between the musical performances, Stelmacovich said people can enjoy outdoor games that include a giant chess set, a massive Jenga game, and a strongman machine, to name a few.

“There’s just all kinds of fun stuff so the kids can be entertained, then they can come in and dance and then we’ll sing, and dance some more… and we’re licenced so you can have a drink or two, it’s really going to be a good time for the whole family,” she said.

There will also be a silent auction, with items donated by local businesses, taking place during The Barn Dance with all the proceeds going towards the Elora Singers and Elora Festival.

Stelmacovich said tickets prices are very affordable, to ensure everyone can attend, and promises to be a great night with something that everyone can enjoy.

The Barn Dance will be on July 18, at the Gambrel Barn, 7454 Wellington County Rd. 21.
