It doesn’t matter that summer isn’t officially over until mid-September. Perceptually, the exodus from the restaurant patio begins each year on Labour Day as people return to indoor dining.

For people who live for the weekend and morning visits to their favourite breakfast restaurants, there’s still plenty of outdoor scenery to be had when you set your sights on Jesse’s on the Green at Guelph Country Club.

For local residents of Guelph, the club might be one of the best kept secrets in town.

Few other places can offer the country-like feel found at Jesse’s, located at the convergence of the first, ninth, and 18th holes. Breakfast lovers have come to appreciate the full menu of exquisitely prepared and moderately priced breakfast favourites served up each weekend.

“When the leaves start to turn and the colours come out, the Club is one of the best places to start your day each weekend,” said Rod Pollock, Director of Hospitality and owner of Jesse’s on the Green. “Even though patio season may be behind us, this is still a great destination for a fantastic breakfast experience.”

As a caterer in the Guelph area since 1984, Pollock has racked up extensive experience catering to breakfast crowds, first at the old Golden Griddle and then as owner of Jesse’s on Silver Creek Parkway. To raise the bar and distinguish the restaurant at Guelph Country Club from a typical breakfast diner, Pollock said he’s put a lot of focus on the quality of items found on the menu.

“I’ve tried to cover all the bases,” he said. “We offer quality food and do things that a lot of restaurants don’t do. We use real Canadian maple syrup for example, and not just little disposal packages. We use pink Himalayan salt in our shakers as a healthier choice. We offer items like avocado toast and Eggs Benny with salmon and capers. There’s something for everyone.”

Steaks lovers will also appreciate the full-size eight-ounce New York Steak and eggs combo that Jesse’s serves up every weekend. There’s ample variety for anyone looking to start their day with a relaxing meal served up by the friendly staff at the Guelph Country Club. The restaurant is open throughout the off-season.
