St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph is having a celebration and everyone is invited!

On Friday September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., come to St. Joseph’s and learn more about the amazing services it offers, and, this year, take a tour of the brand-new Silver Maple Seniors Community apartments and townhomes.

“This free special event is kind of like our annual report to the community,” said Mae Cruz, Communications Specialist at St. Joseph’s. “And of course, this year we are very excited to hold the official opening of our new apartments and townhomes - the Silver Maple Seniors Community.”

St. Joseph’s is Guelph’s leading, fully accredited, not-for-profit provider of resident long-term care, complex medical, and rehabilitation services. They also offer excellent community support services for people who live in their own homes but need a little assistance in their day-to-day lives, and several programs for older adults in the community.

St. Joseph’s Housing Corporation is a non-profit charitable organization whose objective is to relieve the challenges that come with aging by providing and operating non-profit seniors’ residential accommodation, along with associated recreation, education, cultural activities, and other programs.

“The new 28-unit semi-detached Silver Maple Townhomes and 87-unit Silver Maple Apartments provide mixed-income residential accommodations for seniors. All rental units have been designed and constructed using accessibility, energy efficiency and sustainability standards and practices,” said Cruz.

“Affordable housing for seniors is part of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph’s vision and that is why we are delighted to open the Silver Maple Seniors Community. So many people are struggling to find secure housing and we know that the county, the city, and many wonderful community organizations are working incredibly hard to try and keep everyone safe. Our thoughts and gratitude are also with them,” added John Woods, Interim President, St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph.

On Friday September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., there will be an official opening and ribbon cutting with speeches by dignitaries and community leaders. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., there will be refreshments, live music by CJ Cooper and Derek O'Halloran, an opportunity to tour the Silver Maple apartments and townhomes, and a chance to learn more about the programs and services at St. Joseph’s.

“We are so excited for the official opening of the Silver Maple Seniors Community, and we hope others are as well! Come visit us to see these new homes, and to learn more about St. Joseph’s and all that it has to offer,” Cruz said.
