The majority of cases associated with the COVID outbreak at the University of Guelph have been resolved.
There are currently 67 cases that are part of the outbreak declared on Jan. 21 at U of G’s townhouse residence. Of those cases, 62 have been resolved, meaning that they are at least 10 days into their confirmed infection date, have not been hospitalized or had a fatal result.
The cases had nearly doubled from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29 from 32 to 61. The spread dramatically slowed since the last week of January.
All infected cases remain among students and are connected to two social gatherings that took place on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16 in the East Village Townhouses.
Students violating university or Public Health protocols may face a provincial fine of $880 under the Reopening Ontario Act and eviction from the residence.
