The Guelph Kids Social Distancing Birthday Parade has put the smiles on hundreds of children during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, dressing up themselves and their vehicles before delivering horn-honking drive-bys for chilcren celebrating their birthdays but unable to have parties.
On Canada Day they shifted gears, giving thank--you drive-bys to a number of people in Guelph who have freely given their time, skills and efforts to help make things a little easier for others. Getting the drive-bys were groups that sew masks, make surgical caps, play musical concerts and provide educated medical updates on what is happening.
Saturday's drive-bys included the Guelph COVID-19 Surgical Cap Sewists group, who have made thousands of masks, surgical gowns and surgical caps the past three months.
Mayor Cam Guthrie took part in the parade, delivering COVID-19 unsung hero certificates to the groups on the drive-by route.
