This year the Wellington Catholic District School Board, in partnership with the Diocese of Hamilton, is set to host the 20th Annual Bishop’s Dinner for Community Needs in-person on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022 at the Italian Canadian Club here in Guelph.

The annual event, which includes dinner, a silent auction and showcase of student talent, has been a tremendous success since its inaugural event thanks to the generous support and enthusiastic participation from members of our community. All proceeds from the event will assist families needing support with food security, mental health services, access to children’s recreational programs and support programs in our community.

“After two years of hosting virtual fundraisers in response to the pandemic, we are looking forward to the opportunity to be back together, to share friendship, and to support those in need within our community,” shared Michael Glazier, Director of Education for the Wellington Catholic DSB. “As this is our 20th anniversary, we are hoping to make this a truly special homecoming event for past participants as well as an opportunity to welcome new community members to this event.”

Over the course of its 19-year history, the annual Bishop’s Dinner for Community Needs has raised over $730,000 for community organizations in need and hopes to reach $775,000 through this year’s efforts.

“We are thankful to the many community members and organizations who provide much needed support to this year’s beneficiaries,” shared Vikki Dupuis, Chair of the Wellington Catholic DSB Board of Trustees. “We know the need is great and the recipients of this support are the children and families of Guelph and Wellington.  Every effort and every ticket sold makes a difference!"

This year’s beneficiaries include the Centre Wellington Food Bank, Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Guelph and Wellington County.

“We look forward to celebrating the 20th year of the Bishop’s Dinner and continuing to build on the strong legacy of community support on issues such as food security, mental health, and access to programs for children,” shared Glazier.
