Artist Irene Hanuta hangs artwork on the wall at 10C, where the Artspiration exhibit and auction runs until the end of the month.

With a variety of approaches, styles and mediums, 30 artists have teamed up in support of Yorklands Green Hub and its efforts to preserve the former Guelph reformatory property and offer sustainable programing.

This is the biggest year yet for the annual Artspiration show and auction, which is available online and in person at C10 (42 Carden St.) until Oct. 30. Works by numerous local artists are included, with some coming from as far away as Scarborough to participate.

Throughout the summer months, artists visited the former reformatory site on York Road to gather inspiration for their creations and bring them to life. They focus on a variety of aspects of the property, from heritage features to wildlife and landscapes.

A portion of artwork sales will be given to the artist, while the rest goes to supporting Yorkands Green Hub’s efforts. In some cases, artists have offered to put their portion toward the cause as well.

The local, non-profit organization is calling for part of the provincially owned property to be turned into an interactive, sustainable environment centre with community programming, along with preservation of streams, ponds, meadows and trails.
