It might be a scaled-back version, but Friends of the Guelph Public Library said they're happy to be back with its annual book sale after a two year hiatus.
The sale gets underway Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 69 Huron St.
The first day will have an admission charge of $10, while Thursday through Sunday will be free. Children under 14 get in free with an adult Wednesday.
"It is fantastic (to be back)," Brenda Walton, a marketing committee member for the book sale, told GuelphToday. "We've been working really hard to deal with the multitude of donations.
"I think people were saving up books just for the sale, and people were reading a lot more during the pandemic, and (making) puzzles and (playing) games."
There is a wide selection of books, DVDs, puzzles and games available, but they are working with limited space, approximately a third of what they're used to in previous years.
"It is much brighter, much cleaner, rather than one big open space, we have smaller rooms with non-fiction," Walton said. "It will help to pick up a map when you come in so you know where your favourite subjects are."
With the limited space, there's only so much to put out at one time. Walton said they will be restocking as the sale goes along, so the selection will be a bit different depending on when people pass through.
Walton said they won't be allowing more than 375 people in at one time, and no carts, strollers or buggys will be allowed.
It is a cash-only sale, and all proceeds will go to benefit the Guelph Public Library.
