It’s time to dust off the bike, pump up the tires and oil those chains.
The City of Guelph is hosting Bike to Work Day on Monday, May 27 to kick off Bike Month in June.
We encourage people living and working in Guelph to bike to work on May 27. Participants can drop by City Hall from 7–9 a.m. for free coffee, snacks and a chance to win prizes. It’s a great opportunity to meet others who enjoy cycling and to learn how the City is helping to build a bicycle-friendly community.
Register your ride to win
People who plan on biking to work on May 27 can register their ride here. Registration is free and individuals will be automatically entered to win one of six $300 Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) gift cards. This contest is run by the regional Bike Month organizers.
Ride with others
There will be four Meet, Greet and Ride locations set up for those wishing to ride with others to the Bike to Work Day event at City Hall. Group rides leave from each location at 7:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join the group rides, including anyone working in Guelph, those living outside of the community, anyone interested in meeting others and those who would prefer to cycle with a group. Simply meet at any location and cycle to City Hall together. Parking is available.

Active Guelph Ride – Franchetto Park, 24 Franchetto Boulevard

Film Screening of Why We Cycle
What better way to get ready for Bike to Work Day and Bike Month than with a movie about cycling? Join us at The Bookshelf Cinema on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. for a free screening of the movie Why We Cycle. Why We Cycle is a Dutch documentary that explores the hidden effects of cycling on people, society and city life. Last year’s seats filled quickly, so arrive early to get your spot! A post-film discussion will be hosted by the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT).
June is Bike Month
Throughout June there are a number of events residents can participate in, including group rides and a bike theft forum. View the great lineup of events here.
Guelph’s cycling network
Guelph has 70 kilometres of bike lanes, paved shoulders and multi-use paths, and more than 80 kilometres of off-road trails.
ReCycle bike reuse program
Don’t have a bike? No problem! Pick one up through the ReCycle bike reuse program. Bikes of all sizes, colours and conditions are available, free of charge, year-round at the Waste Resource Innovation Centre.
Have too many bikes? You can drop off unwanted, usable bikes and bike parts for others to enjoy.
