Church luncheon to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine

To celebrate the 31-year anniversary of Ukraine's independence from the former United Socialist Soviet Republic, the Ukrainian Church Guelph is hosting a luncheon on Saturday.

It will serve as a fundraiser to support humanitarian relief efforts in the Ukraine as the conflict continues.

The even will be hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m at St. Mary's Ukrainian Church on 115 York Rd.

People can place pre-orders through the Ukrainian Church Guelph Community Facebook page via messenger. Include how many plates you would like to order and the time of pick-up.

A plate consists of four perogies, two cabbage rolls, one sausage and a pickle, all for $20. The perogies are filled with potato and cheddar cheese and the cabbage rolls are filled with rice and beef, pork filling.

It is cash only, donations to support Ukraine will also be accepted.

People are welcomed to take-out, eat-in and bring lawn chairs and blankets for a picnic.
