Guelph will get a spring cleaning on Saturday, part of Earth Day activities in the city.

Organizers of the 14th annual Guelph Clean and Green Community Cleanup expect over 1,000 residents to pitch in to make the community a bit greener and far less littered.

Expect to see a lot of filled garbage bags appearing along streets, ditches, green spaces and parks throughout the city. The cleanup, which enlists young and old, happens for three hours Saturday all over the city.

In 2016, over 900 people picked up in excess of 5,350 kilograms of litter.

A barbecue lunch in Riverside Park’s large picnic shelter follows the cleanup. Mayor Cam Guthrie will be there.

This year’s cleanup is sponsored by Zehrs, Terra View Homes, the Downtown Guelph Business Association, and Guelph and Wellington Development Association.
