A development hot potato is back in Council Chambers Tuesday night, as a special public meeting on 75 Dublin St. N. takes place.

Rykur Holdings has made another application for an Official Plan amendment allowing it to build a five-storey apartment building at the location, on the former church tennis courts on the northeast corner of the intersection of Dublin Street and Cork Street.

The building would have 35 units and 35 parking spots, with 20 of those units being affordable units if a housing grant from the government can be accessed.

Many in the neighbourhood, along with the Upper Grand District School Board, have been opposed to such a development on the site, with concerns including traffic, parking, shadows cast on the neighbouring Central Public School and that the development does not fit in visually with the adjacent Catholic Hill.

The proposal is already the subject of two different Ontario Municipal Board appeals, which are currently in the process of debating two motions regarding those appeals.

Sixteen delegates are scheduled to speak at tonight's meeting, which is a public information planning meeting. No decision is expected.

It begins at 6 p.m.
