Since Sunday afternoon, the University of Guelph has been dealing with an incident that resulted in a campus-wise outage of multiple university systems.

University officials are continuing to investigate the incident, though they have not yet stated what that is. It is not clear either whether the incident caused the outage, or the outage was in response to the incident.

“As soon as this incident became known, we took immediate action to ensure the security of university systems and the protection of data," states an update posted to their website on Thursday. "Together with external experts, we are working to determine the extent of the information that may be impacted."

The update states that some U of G community members may continue to experience “limited service disruptions,” though they are working to minimize those disruptions and return to regular operations.

As of Tuesday, the following services were still impacted:

  • VPN access to university systems
  • Eduroam
  • Services hosted in the university data centre
  • Shared file storage/CFS file shares
  • Printing at the campus library
  • Editing capabilities for Drupal and WordPress websites hosted by CCS.
  • Debit and credit systems, as well as parking permit systems. As a result, parking permits are not required to park on campus until further notice.

Efforts to get comment from university officials weren't successful.

Updates will be posted here
