Inspired by Bike the Night events across the world, Guelph’s Coalition for Active Transportation is hosting its own lit-up nigh ride through the city.
Bike the Night Guelph, hosted by GCAT, will be a nighttime group ride on Sept. 18 with music, treats, free bike maps and of course, lights. There will also be a contest for the best illuminated bike and best costume.
A pre-ride event will begin at Exhibition Park at 7 p.m. The ride will kick off at 7:45 p.m. at Exhibition Park and end at City Hall at approximately 8:30 p.m.
“Bike the Night welcomes riders of all ages and abilities who want to be part of the group and share an interest in building safer, more pedestrian and cycling-friendly streets,” reads a press release by GCAT.
“Decorate your ride with lights, reflectors, stickers and remember the brighter, the better! Costumes are encouraged too. The best illuminated bike and best costume will win a prize pack from our sponsors! If you’re looking for some inspiration, click here, here and here.”
Participants are expected to bring their own bike and are encouraged to wear a helmet.
