Police have blocked the entrance to the former Guelph Correctional Centre property on York Road.

Guelph Police are asking the public to avoid the area of Watson Parkway and Dunlop Drive, including trails at the former correctional centre property. 

In a tweet the service said police and fire were investigating a possible chemical spill in the area. 

As of 11:45 on Tuesday, police had blocked the York Road entrance to the correctional centre property.
