Guelph Police Service pays tribute service dog who died this week

Jett assisted in numerous incidents, arrests and investigations with the GPS since he joined the force last year

On Friday, the Guelph Police Service shared news that Jett, one of its police service dogs, passed away. 

Jett was admitted to a veterinary hospital in Guelph last week with extreme pain, He remained there for five days and was diagnosed with numerous serious medical ailments before he died at the age of three. 

Jett, a Belgian malinois joined the GPS last year and was partnered with his handler, Const. Jason Hall. They completed the canine training course together in July of 2020. 

Since that time, Jett worked as a general service dog specializing in detecting human scent, narcotics, firearms and ammunition. Jett assisted in numerous incidents, arrests and investigations with the GPS. 

“We would like to thank PSD Jett for his dedicated and loyal service to our community. He will be missed and remembered by the many whose lives he enriched,” said a press release.
