Guelph United FC is an expansion team in the League1 Ontario men's soccer league and is to begin play in the league this year. It's to play its home games at Alumni Stadium.

The inaugural season for Guelph United FC will continue.

A win Saturday on penalty kicks over Masters FA means Guelph advances to meet either Blue Devis or Vaughan Assurri in the Ontario League 1 final.

The winner advances to the Canadian championship.

Lucas Doros put Guelph up 1-0, but they fell behind on consecutive Masters FA goals before half time.

Jace Kotsopoulos tied the game with a diving header on a cross by Amardo Oakley.

Guelph had a golden opportunity to go up late in the game, but Kotsopoulos missed a penalty kick.

After regulation ended in a 2-2 draw, the post-game penalty shootout eventually came down to the two goalkeepers. Guelph's Svyatik Artemenko made good on his attempt, then stopped a shot by his Masters FA opposite number.

The Ontario League 1 final will be played at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan on Sunday starting at 4 p.m.
