The Ministry of Transportationis shutting down the Highway 6 North ramp to the 401 eastbound to continue to clean up a massive fuel spill from early this year.

The Highway 6 North ramp will be closed from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kersondra Hickey with the Ministry of Transportation tells 570 News the ramp closure is to support the clean-up effort from an earlier fuel spill that took place back on January 13.

Mill Creek and Aberfoyle Creek near Highway 6 North became contaminated following a rollover of a double tanker carrying between 40, 000 and 50, 000 litres of jet fuel.

The MTO says there will also be periodic nightly closures of the Highway 6 North ramp to the 401 eastbound to continue to aide in the ongoing clean-up effort and adds that all closures are subject to weather conditions.
