NEWS RELEASE

GUELPH HUMANE SOCIETY

With plans for a new building, dreams of expanded programming and a growing list of domestic and wild animals to serve, the Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is getting ready for what promises to be a busy and exciting 2018.

“The Guelph Humane Society has seen dramatic growth and change over the past five years,” commented Adrienne McBride, executive director of the Guelph Humane Society. “Our board, staff and volunteers are passionate about expanding our impact in Guelph and Wellington. Focused on our vision of a world where all animals are treated humanely, with respect and compassion, our team wants to hear from the community the best way for us to do just that.”

GHS knows the role that a humane society plays in a community is changing. Evolving families, economic pressures and busy lifestyles are changing how people interact with household pets and area wildlife.

As it begins to plan for new facilities in the south end of Guelph, GHS wants to understand how it can best help the animals – and people – of Guelph/Wellington.

Eager to hear about animal welfare priorities and perceptions from the community, GHS has recently launched a new website and is now launching a survey.

Through this survey and a series of focus groups they will be hosting in the fall, GHS wants to better understand what the community thinks about its services and role it plays in making Guelph a great place to live and work.

Equally important GHS wants to know how it can improve its services to serve the entire region more effectively and efficiently.

GHS welcomes all community members, stakeholders, and interested parties to visit their new site and take a short survey to share their thoughts on the future of animal welfare in our community. The survey can be found at the GHS website and will be open from Oct. 5 until Nov. 3.
