Iconic World War II aircraft to visit Waterloo airport

WATERLOO — Waterloo Warbirds is proud to host The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) AirPower History Tour. The CAF’s iconic B-29 Super fortress “Fifi” will be spending a few days at the Region of Waterloo Airport as part of her summer 2018 26 destination Tour across North America. This will be one of her 8 stops in Canada.  

The tour’s collection of World War II aircraft provides powerful history lessons to audiences across North America. Visitors to the ramp will be able to view the aircraft up close and tour the cockpit when the airplane is not flying. Rides may be purchased in advance at Air Power Tour online.

As well as the B-29 Superfortress, Waterloo Warbirds will have their collection of four Cold War Era Jets on Display for the public, including the B-29’s Korean War Nemesis, the MiG-15.

Timeline of Events

Monday Aug. 13

2 - 5 p.m.:  Fifi Viewing open to the public

Tuesday Aug. 14

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Open to the Public

Wednesday Aug. 15

Two Passenger Flights departing at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. respectively (Weather Permitting)

Open to Public 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Thursday August 16

Time TBA – Fifi departs for next stop on tour.  No public viewing, though anyone is welcome to watch her take off from public areas of the Airport.  

Admission - $15 Adult $6 for kids 10 and under.

Rides – Booking for rides are available through Air Power Tour online. Prices vary depending on location on the aircraft, but are quite reasonable for a flight in a Warbird of this calibre.
