Jury selection has begun in the first-degree murder trial of Raj Dosanjh.

Dosanjh stands accused of shooting Comfort Inn manager Aly Sunderani in March of 2016.

Last week 400 perspective jurors were pre-screened. This week there are roughly 100 qualified jurors being questioned by the prosecution and defence to see if they object or approve of the juror.

The trial is expected to start Tuesday.

It is expected to take up to eight weeks to complete.

Dosanjh was arrested in Burnaby, BC, a year after Sunderani, 35, was found shot outside the main doors of the Comfort Inn on Silvercreek Parkway North. He died a day later of his wounds in a Guelph hospital.

There is an unusually heavy police presence at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, as there has been for all of Dosanjh's appearances.

All people entering the court are required to be wanded by a metal detector by police.
