Good music. Good times. Good cause.

A new fundraiser planned for Downtown Guelph next month hopes to raise $10,000 for a pair of local mental health programs.

Behind The Mask - A Masquerade in Support of Youth Mental Health takes place in Old Quebec Street Shoppes on May 26.

It will feature live performances from The Elwins, Polaris Prize Band with Kevin Breit, Royal Castles and a burlesque performance from The Femmes Rebelles.

DJ Spenny will also be spinning tunes.

There will also be raffles and a silent auction.

“I’ve done a fundraiser before, about three-and-a-half years ago that was similar. It’s just been a cause that’s close to my heart,” says organizer Larissa Klee.

Klee has teamed up with Cornerstone owner Mark Rodford and Riverfest music festival organizer Spencer Shewen to put the event on.

Planning began last October. She hopes to see 400 people there.

Money raised will go to the United Way’s YouthTALK program and Portage addiction rehabilitation centre for youth in Elora.

The event is a masquerade theme so attendees are encouraged to dress up if they want. It is licenced.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door and are available here.

More details can be found on the Facebook Event page.
