Loblaw has announced it plans to build 30 new stores across the country this year, but isn't saying where just yet.
The Brampton-based company announced Thursday that it will open 30 new locations and renovate 500 existing stores.
Loblaw owns a prime piece of retail real estate in Guelph's east end, at the corner of Watson Road and Starwood Drive, that the city - and east end residents - have been hoping will turn into a grocery store for several years.
It is the only piece of property currently available in the east end for a large grocery store.
"Our investment will create improved retail experiences for customers and local jobs for communities," said Galen G. Weston, Chairman and CEO of Loblaw in a news release.
