Public Health Ontario reported 668 new COVID cases in its Oct. 1 report and 647 in its Sept. 30 report.
The province posted both updates today because no report was posted on Sept. 30 because it was National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The latest updates noted a total of 1,315 recoveries over the two days, and 12 deaths that occurred in the last month. The reports also noted eight additional deaths that occurred more than one month ago, but were not previously reported.
The Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- Of the 1,315 cases reported in the last two days, 801 were in unvaccinated people, 78 were partially vaccinated, and 317 were fully vaccinated. The vaccination status for the remaining 119 cases is unknown (missing health card information).
- There are 115 unvaccinated people hospitalized (but not ICU) with COVID-19, as well as 10 partially vaccinated people and 28 fully vaccinated people.
- There are 94 unvaccinated people in ICUs with COVID-19, as well as eight partially vaccinated and seven fully vaccinated.
- 4,969 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 4,947 yesterday.
- 278 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- There are 141 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 22 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 117 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 20 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- 10,558,963 Ontarians (about 70 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 691,759 (five per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 9.6 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 4.6 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.4 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 35,927 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.8 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported in the Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 reports, 204 are from Toronto, 150 are from Peel, 28 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 95 are from York Region.
- The new cases reported in both reports include 263 individuals under 12 years old, 118 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 448 people between 20 and 39 years old, 336 people between 40 and 59 years old, 135 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 20 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 586,817 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 572,105 recoveries and 9,743 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 29,917 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,847 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,982.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 28.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 12.1 per cent compared to the week of Sept. 21-27.
