The Beer Store may soon be on the move, but it’s not intended to go very far. There’s a plan in the works to demolish the store building at 710 Woolwich St. and build a new outlet on the same site but closer to the road.

The plan is noted in a parking reduction application filed with the city’s committee of adjustment. A media spokesperson for The Beer Store couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.

As outlined in the application, the move is intended to “make way for the eventual redevelopment of the rear/western portion of the site.”

While the current building is about 800 sq. m. the proposed outlet is 618 sq. m.

The Beer Store officials are seeking permission to provide 33 parking spaces, a reduction of five from what’s currently required by city rules.

The committee of adjustment will consider the application during its virtual meeting on June 10.

That location has been home The Beer Store since 1958, notes the application.
