Guelph Police are searching for a suspect after someone tried to ship $10,000 worth of marijuana out of the country inside cereal boxes.

On Dec. 7 police were called by to a local shipping company after 1,000 grams of pot was discovered inside four cereal boxes dropped off by someone looking to mail them overseas.

Const. Josh Fraser said the cereal boxes had been resealed to make it look like they had never been opened.

Employees of the company noticed something funny and called police, he said.

The person trying to ship the drugs provided a driver's licence. While the photo on the licence was the person shipping the goods, the rest of the information was false, Fraser said.

While it is the only time police have been notified of this happening, they are investigating to see if other similar attempts have occurred.
