The Guelph Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Jane Armstrong to the Board, effective April 11, 2022. Ms. Armstrong was appointed to the board by the Solicitor General as a provincial appointee for a period of three years.

Ms. Armstrong is a life-long resident of Guelph and practiced law in the city from 1982 until her retirement in 2018. Her areas of practice included corporate and commercial law, real estate and trusts.

Ms. Armstrong is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Alectra Inc. She also currently serves as a member of the Executive of the Southwestern Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Throughout her career, she has been active in community and volunteer activities including her involvement with the Rotary Club of Guelph. In addition to serving on the boards of several community organizations, Ms. Armstrong was a member of the Guelph Police Services Board from 1996 to 1999.

“We welcome Ms. Armstrong to the Board,” said Robert Carter, chair of the board. “Ms. Armstrong’s experience in corporate and commercial law and her involvement in many aspects of our community will be a strong asset in the continuation of good governance for our exceptional police service.”

The Guelph Police Services Board is comprised of five members. Two are appointed by the Province, two are members of City Council and one is a community representative appointed to the board by City Council. Ms. Armstrong takes the place of Mr. Rod Curran, whose term of appointment as provincial representative expired on April 11, 2022.
