Public to have say on proposed Beer Store property development

Public meeting set for Sept. 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Plans to build 96 stacked townhouses behind the Woolwich Street Beer Store are heading out for public comment. Community input will be sought during a Sept. 13 public meeting on the proposal.

If ultimately approved as requested, 710 Woolwich St. will be rezoned to allow for stacked townhouses, apartments, retail, office, personal service and medical office uses. Allowances have also been requested to permit increased density and not require private amenity space, as well as reduced side yard and parking setbacks.

Recently, the committee of adjustment approved a reduction in the number of parking spaces required for a new Beer Store building, to 33 from 38, which is to be built closer to the street making space for the proposed townhouse development to the rear of the site.

The public meeting, which is part of city council’s planning session, is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live at guelph.ca/live.

The deadline to register as a delegate or make a written submission for the Sept. 13 public  meeting is Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. To register, visit guelph.ca/delegation, call 519-837-5603 or email [email protected].

Advanced registration is not required to speak out during a public meeting.
