Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County

Potential for brief severe wind gusts Friday morning or early afternoon. Showers and scattered thunderstorms Tonight into Friday with up to 25 mm possible in some areas.

An approaching warm front will cause an area of showers and thunderstorms to move through the regions this evening and tonight. Some of the storms may contain heavy downpours with local rainfall amounts of 15 mm in an hour or total amounts near 25 mm possible.

There will be the potential for high wind gusts Friday in the morning or early afternoon as a cold front approaches, preceded by a band of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Scattered winds gusts near or exceeding 90 km/h or more will be possible in this band. Given the scattered nature of the band, confidence in high winds gusts occurring in any given locale is low.

Where these winds develop, power outages would likely occur.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor this situation closely and may issue watches or warnings as the event draws nearer.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
