The weekend after partial lockdown is part-way lifted (8 photos)

Patio season is up and running in Guelph and elsewhere in Ontario, thanks to the lifting of an outdoor dining restriction which was in effect until Friday.

There are 29 patios on the streets and sidewalks in Downtown, said Matthew Hardy Thomas, the city's manager of tourism and destination development in an email, along with three on private property and others that are not part of the city's seasonal patio program.

There are also nine patios approved for expansion outside of the downtown, he noted.

In addition to patios, people took to the outdoors to enjoy a warm, sunny day in a variety of ways, including activities at local parks, Guelph Farmers' Market and more. Saturday was also the second day of the return of in-person, non-essential shopping, leading to many lines as stores of all sorts got back up and running.

People also had an opportunity to enjoy local sports fields, outdoor basketball courts and tennis courts, which re-opened on May 22.
