Guelph police say $15,000 worth of wire was stolen from a trailer in the north end after a hole was cut in the trailer to gain access.

Police were called Thursday afternoon to a business on Woodlawn Road West near Regal Road. A trailer backed up against the building had been entered after a power tool was used to cut a hole in the side.

Approximately 30 spools of blue 10-gauge wire and a container of white 14-gauge wire were stolen. Surveillance video from a neighbouring business revealed a dark-coloured SUV leaving the scene approximately 3:12 a.m. Thursday.

The theft remains under investigation.
