At an awards gala this past weekend at Toronto Westin Harbour Castle, Wellington Brewery won three Silver Medals as part of the 2019 Canadian Brewing Awards.
The Canadian Brewing Awards is Canada’s national competition for judging the quality of Canadian manufactured beer. This national competition included entries from brewers across Canada competing in 55 different categories which were evaluated with a series of blind tastings by a panel of BJCP-certified judges. The awards and categories won by Wellington Brewery include:
Helles Lager - Silver Medal
North American Style Premium Lager
Arkell Best Bitter - Silver Medal
English Bitters (Ordinary or Special Bitters / Best Bitter or ESB)
Faces Double IPA - Silver Medal
American Style Imperial India Pale Ale
Three Silver Medals marks the largest wins for Wellington Brewery at this national competition. These awards are in addition to the six medals won at the Ontario Brewing Awards in fall 2018.
Helles Lager is available year-round at the LCBO, Beer Stores, and select Grocery Stores across Ontario. Faces Double IPA is not currently available but will return again as a seasonal release. Arkell Best Bitter is available on tap and at the brewery in growlers with a canned release planned for the fall as part of the breweries seasonal mix pack.
Fellow Guelph brewer Royal City also took home a Gold and a Bronze medal at the awards this year. Local and regional craft beer fans will have the chance to visit both of these award-winning craft brewers as part of the first Guelph.Beer Bus, happening this Saturday May 11, which includes stops at all five of Guelph’s breweries.*************************
