A series of three virtual workshops later this month are designed to help residents understand the upcoming city budget process and how decisions are made.

The 90-minute sessions, dubbed “Money Talk: Making Cents of the Municipal Budget,” will be held Sept. 15, 18 and 21. They start at 1 p.m., 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

Each will include a budget basics presentation which covers topics such as how to navigate the city’s budget website, mandated requirements, multi-year budgeting, how budgets set the pace of projects, and more.

Participants will also have an opportunity to join in two breakout sessions that take a closer look at non-property tax revenue, longterm financial strategies, funding capital projects and multi-year budgeting.

Workshops also include discussion about Guelph’s municipal budget.

The draft 2022 and beyond city budget will be formally presented to council and the public on Nov. 16, beginning at 9 a.m. and streamed live at guelph.ca/live.
