MISSISSAUGA – Vilmer Alriksson assisted on the tying goal then won it in overtime as the Guelph Storm skated to a 3-2 win over the Mississauga Steelheads Wednesday.

The game was a school day contest, with an 11 a.m. start.

After a scoreless first period, Wil McFadden scored his first OHL goal to give Guelph the lead, tipping in a point shot by Michael Buchinger.

Goals by Finn Harding and Kieran Witkowski in the third period had the home side up 2-1, but Jett Luchanko, on a nice cross-crease feed from Alriksson, tied the game just 12 seconds after Mississauga had taken the lead.

Alriksson won it at 3:42 of overtime, outskating a pair of Steelheads from his own blue line in before making a nice move for the winner.

Brayden Gillespie made 34 saves in the Storm net.

Guelph will host the Windsor Spitfires on Friday night and Oshawa Generals on Sunday afternoon.
