Eight Storm players heading to NHL camps

Eight members of the Guelph Storm headed off to NHL camps Monday.

Michael Buchinger, Jake Karabela, Sasha Pastujov and Braeden Bowman will be taking part in the Rookie Faceoff tournament in San Jose being hosted by the San Jose Sharks and featuring entries from the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Coyotes and Vegas Golden Knights.

Cooper Walker has been invited to the Calgary Flames camp while Danny Zhilkin, Mathew Poitras and Luka Profaca are also headed to camps.

Bowman, Profaca and Walker are undrafted free agents, the other five have been drafted.

Guelph dropped a pre-season encounter in Clarington on Sunday night, falling 4-3 in a shootout to the Oshawa Generals, dropping their pre-season record to 2-3.

Valentin Zhugin scored twice for the Storm and Matthew Poitras had the other. Jacob Oster made 23 saves.

The Storm wraps up exhibition play with a home game against Mississauga Friday Sept. 23.
