The Guelph Nighthawks will hit the home court when they open their Canadian Elite Basketball League season with a home game on May 26 against the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

The CEBL, which is now up to 10 teams, released its 2022 schedule Thursday.

Seven of the Nighthawks first 10 games are at home. Home games see them play three times on Tuesday, twice on Wednesday and Thursday and once each on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There are no Friday home games.

The league will be returning to a 20-game schedule in 2022 with three new teams joining the league. The addition of the Montreal Alliance, Scarborough Shooting Stars and the Newfoundland Growlers officially makes the 10-team CEBL Canada’s largest domestic professional sports league, says a news release.

"The 2022 schedule will ensure that Nighthawks fans will be able to see all nine teams at the Sleeman Centre this upcoming season. Guelph will host the Montreal Alliance twice on June 11 and July 13, while the Newfoundland Growlers will make their lone trip to the Sleeman Centre on June 14. Other schedule highlights include the Nighthawks first Father’s Day home game on June 19, an afternoon tip-off against the rival Hamilton Honey Badgers."

The Nighthawks will play 20 games over 64 days. The regular season will lead into the CEBL playoffs, which will ultimately determine the top four teams to qualify for Championship Weekend in Ottawa Aug. 12 to Aug. 14.

The Nighthawks' regular season wraps up on the road July 29.
