HAMILTON – The Hamilton Cardinals scored six runs in the fourth inning Sunday to fuel a 7-4 victory over the heavily-favoured Guelph Royals in Game 2 of their best-of-five Intercounty Baseball League quarter-final.
Hamilton leads the series 2-0 and can finish off the upset in Game 3 Tuesday night in Guelph.
The Royals took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning before the Cardinals' big inning in the fourth.
Starter Brandon Deans surrendered six runs in three innings of work for Guelph.
Guelph scattered 10 hits, including three by Conner Morro, one of them a double, the Royals' lone extra-base hit of the contest.
