Guelph Royals upset in Game 1

Seventh-place Hamilton Cardinals down Guelph 4-3 in Game 1 of their best-of-five IBL quarter-final

Tyler Duncan went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead seventh-place Hamilton to an upset 4-3 win over second-place Guelph Saturday night at Hastings Stadium.

Laine Renaud drove in the other run. Luin Jean singled twice and scored twice.

Sam Turcotte allowed a run on seven hits over six innings for the win. He walked four and struck out five. Jose Fernandez struck out all six batters he faced to earn the save.

Malik Collymore went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI for Guelph. Sean Reilly drove in the other run. Conner had two hits and scored.
Jeifry Nunez gave up four runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings. He walked four and fanned seven.

Game 2 goes Sunday afternoon in Hamilton. Game 3 is Tuesday night in Guelph.
