ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Storm blew a two-goal lead in the third period then lost it in overtime Sunday night, falling to the Niagara IceDogs 6-5.

Guelph entered the third period with a 4-2 lead, but Niagara scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead.

Max Namestnikov ripped home the tying goal with Storm goaltender Damian Slavik on the bench for the extra attacker and Guelph already on the power play with 1:55 left in the third.

Andrew Wycisk won it 16 seconds into overtime. Guelph's Jett Luchanko turned the puck over in the Storm zone and Slavik made a great save on the first Niagara shot, but Wycisk poked home the rebound.

Guelph trailed 2-0 after the first period but scored four in the second, including one by Braeden Bowman with 0.1 seconds left on the clock.

Namestnikov, Bowman, Luchano, Jake Karabela and Gavin Grundner had the Storm goals. Bowman also had two assists.

Guelph will host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday night.
