Guelph Storm can't recover from rough start

Lose 5-2 on the road in Flint

FLINT – The Flint Firebirds scored three times in the first 15 minutes of the game and the Guelph Storm never recovered, falling 5-2 in Flint Saturday night.

Former Storm forward Tag Bertuzzi had two of the early Flint goals, including one from behind the net that he batted in off the shoulder of Storm goaltender Owen Bennett.

Bennett would allow four goals on 14 shots before being yanked early in the second period.

Danny Zhilkin and Brayden Guy had the Storm goals, both on the power play.

Guelph outshot the Firebirds 52-22 on the night,

The Storm played with five defencemen, with Daniil Chayka missing the game after sustaining an injury Friday night in Sarnia. Charlie Paquette was thrown out of the game late for a check to the head major.

The Storm plays home games Monday against Erie, Wednesday against London and Friday against Sarnia this week.
